where my head was at

11 03 2009

yesterday. i spent a gang of time on ebay looking at vintage work boots and other things of that nature.

there’s something about north american manufacturing and craftsmanship that appeals to my utilitarian sensibilities, it’s like we had it right the whole time and didn’t need to globalize our labour and change the whole system up. goods were affordable when they were produced domestically and were definitely higher quality, so what do we have now?

kudos to the few companies who still produce their goods on this continent and while i’m not saying that all these pictures are of goods produced in north america, at least there is still some of that out there. a lot of things have changed in our parents’ lifetimes.
