The artist formerly known as lil’ jaz has a new project that we fully endorse. This sentence has an array of links for you to click and familiarize yourself with his new and previous work. We asked him some impromptu questions last week that we feel paint a picture of the inner workings of this mad musical turntable scientist.

Over easy

2.How many needles do you go through in a year?
1 or 2..from losing them, not from wearing them out.

Both are born from technological advancement. So both.

There are no shortcuts in this process. If there’s a quick way to make music, i clearly missed the memo.

Knives scare me. Accidentally slicing my hands while cooking is a paranoia. Enter food processor. So that would be a no.

Little Jazz..(but i hate when i meet people and tell them my name and they say “pardon me? Jasmine?”…wtf..do i look female? Its JasPER…verbal typo)

More music for the Rubberbandance Group, Arcee, and myself. Working on scoring a documentary…huge learning curve than just making beats. Others TBD.

16.Can music still be commodified?
Can Drake sell a free mixed tape? Quality over quantity. Trend that.

17.Can you namedrop a visual artist who inspires you?
Hayao Miyazaki.

18.How often do you remember your dreams?
Very often. But not all. Sometimes i’ll google them when i wake-up to find out what they mean.

19.What advantages do we have in Toronto as artists?
The diversity in the city allows for new lanes to be created, unique collaborations to be cultivated. The infamous TO screwface functions as a self-belief test. Watch it long enough, you turn to stone.

20.Is there any genre of music you don’t enjoy?
Does “Gino-beats” count as a genre?
