this is the arenal volcano, the largest active volcano in costa rica. i spent a few days in the surrounding area of this big guy and it was one of my favourite parts of the country. i didn’t get out to the manmade lake that is near the base of it, but i fully intend to next time i’m in costa(feb ’09..and what). this is definitely the first volcano i had ever seen in person, and tour guide or not, i’m getting a lot closer to it when i go back.

Arenal/La Fortuna Airport, Costa Rica

So this is the gigantic airstrip at La Fortuna in Costa Rica. I took a brief 45 minute flight from here to Tamarindo Airport and was the only passenger on the whole plane. The co-pilot sat down across from me with a gangster lean and broke down the plane’s safety features like we were friends first and this whole flying thing wasn’t such a big deal. It was one of the best flights I have ever been on. I think I listened to Kanye’s Graduation album while in the air.
