Cratery #21

21 09 2010

This month, the Cratery crew decided to embark on a journey to Montreal for the f*ck of it. Heat was copped, food was eaten and in less than 12 hours later we were back on the road. I can say from the bottom of my heart that I love that city. The city is great beyond measure and every time I go I have immense fun. This visit was no exception. Shouts to Arcee and Serious and the various vinyl vendors that made this trip both fun and worthwhile. We owe this edition of Cratery to y’all…

enjoy.

Cratery 18: The Vangover

21 06 2010

“Both the hommie Kaewonder and I recently spent some time on the left coast.  This month’s Cratery represents the fruits of our visit. I love shopping for records in a different town. Especially when that town is Vancouver. I was fortunate enough to stumble across a copy of J.R. Bailey’s “Just me and you”, Nina Simone’s “Is it Finished” LP, Bad Medicine’s “Trespasser” 45 and a copy of Marlena Shaw’s Spice of Life LP to name a few. There are definitely some records in Vancouver. And no one knows that better than the big hommie Sipreano, record guru extraordinaire. Thank you sir. For your hospitality. And your record collection. And so, in the aftermath of 2 weeks spent binging on records, alcohol and herb, we present to you, Cratery 18: The Vangover. Enjoy. ” – ARCEE

Psych & Soul

15 05 2010

psych & soul

Every Sunday at La Hacienda (640 Queen St. W) from 10pm til last call (2AM), yours truly (Kaewonder) plays Psych rock and soul records for your general amusement and pleasure. The Grumpy Owl slings the drinks, Sometimes we have special guests. This week’s special guest is none other than famed Canadian producer Ian Blurton (his list of acclaim is quite impressive, although I’m too lazy to list it here, so I’ll just y’all the wiki page) he’s been collecting vinyl for YEARS, and has an ear for the weirder pieces of black wax out there in addition to a collection that would make a lot of lesser-collectors (myself included) cry.

Expect to hear some bugged-out joints that you may never hear in the setting provided.I’ve put together a little 45 minute mix with the kind of stuff that you can expect to hear every Sunday, which can be downloaded here.

Hope to see y’all out this Sunday night!

Meeting of The Minds

24 03 2010

This is but one of many pics taken one night after 24 Carat Tuesdays @ Andy Poolhall. Late night eats at Taste of China.

Not sure what it is that (L-R Benzo, Jaz and T.R.A.C.K.S) find so amusing, but whatever it was it must’ve been good.

shouts to the others in attendance that night, too. Pretty sure Bozack Morris was in the cut alongside Big Jacks (?), Arcee the homegirl Natalie, Asicks and myself (?) shouts to whomever I’ve forgotten. That was a great late night food flex with hella jokes and good times.
